The Dragon Boat

After an extended period of intensive lounging around in the sunshine thinking about it, Shhh! Research teamed up with the practical know how of Mike Walton of Benchstop to create an elegant new form of hammock experience. The dragon boat is hand-made from locally sourced, air-dried English hardwood. We work the wood all the way from trunk to finished structure, partially because sourcing knot free timber 5m long is a not possible from commercial outlets and, more importantly, we love slicing trees on an old sawmill.

The dragon head and tail shown on left are optional extras. Indeed we are able to offer a bespoke service for those commissioning their own Dreamboats - including choice of carvings, choice of woods and hammock design.

If lazy revereries are your idea of the door to Nirvana, this is the key tool for the job.

Inside or out

The boats are painstakingly hand-finished with many coats of a high-build exterior grade oil, to enable them to be used comfortably inside or out.

Tip: Experience has taught us that choosing a pitching spot out of sight from one's partner is a good idea for full enjoyment of the experience.

Hire

Dragon Boats should be available for hire in time for this summer's festivals, weddings and garden parties. We also have a wide range of other items for hire and sale that can turn a field or garden into an unforgettable celebratory space.

The feet aren't finished!

These are so new that we haven't yet finalised the design of the feet. They may be wedges, spikes, paws or wings. The drawing board beckons!

Also please note that the dragon boat image above left is a photoshop mock up - the final design may be different. Indeed every stand we make is unique - that's the beauty of bespoke design.

Needless to say, with all is effort comes a respectable price. The basic model starts at £600 plus delivery, with carving add at least £100. These prices will probably be increased when we work out the houly rate they represent!
